Been seeing Dr Leatherwood for a few years now thru the VA community care program. He and his staff are the best around. Never any issues and he does his best to make you comfortable during any procedures and i appreciate that. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Dr Leatherwood was exceptional in caring for me. I had a broken tooth that was so painful I could not touch it. He gently administered the pain medication and skillfully removed the tooth and infection. On top of that his charges were so reasonable. His staff was also very helpful. I recommend him highly!!

I’ve been coming to Dr. Leatherwood’s office for about five years now. He came highly recommended from my dentist who was retiring and I am SO glad that I chose his office for my dental care. Not only is he excellent at what he does, he is a truly genuine and caring individual. Dr. Leatherwood is patient and speaks kindly, calmingly, and respectfully to both his staff and his patients at all
times. His hygienists, dental assistants, and front office staff are all equally as wonderful as well. Highly recommend them for anyone looking for a new dentist!

By far, Dr. Leatherwood is the best dentist I have ever seen. I went for a filling and he made sure I was completely numb before starting. I did not feel a thing! He continually asked me if I was doing ok throughout the entire process. Highly recommend!!

I'm a disabled veteran referred to Dr. Leatherwood in the VA's community care program since I live so far from Johnson City.
When I was first referred, the VA set up my first appointment and it was a smooth exam. During that exam they found a few issues to fix with my teeth. This is where it starts to go down hill. Dr. Leatherwoods office scheduled me for some appointments and said they would send in the paperwork to the VA for approval. They ended up sitting on the paperwork and never sent it, and turned around and blamed the VA. I had to step in and hold their hand to make sure I was approved.
After these appointments one of the procedures did not turn out well and now I need a root canal. Again Dr. Leatherwood's office called and set up the appointment with the endodontist and said they would handle the paperwork with the VA. This appointment was set for 2 months out but Dr. Leatherwood specifically told me that the place he reffered me to had cancelations all the time and I would get taken care of alot sooner, as I need a root canal.
A month and a half later I am wondering why I never received a call to come in for my procedure. After a phone call to the endodontist, she told me I have not been approved by the VA yet. I then called the VA and they said Dr. Leatherwood's office did not submit the paperwork until a month and half later. Here I am still sitting waiting for a call to get my root canal.
That is two times in a row that his office dropped the ball. Now the first time this happened I dismissed the occurrence. Now that they dropped the ball again, it's a pattern. Now either they have something against veterans as a whole, or they singaled me out and a lawsuit will need to be filed for targeted discrimination.
Either way they should no longer have the privilege to serve the nation's finest and a full investigation needs to be conducted. Because if it happened to me then it is most definitely happening to all the other veterans that are in their care, or again, they signaled me out specifically.
Either way do your research on who you are dealing with.
