Love this place. The staff is amazing! They do great work. The doc is very straightforward. I get cleanings scheduled on site every six months. No hassle. Their process is very smooth. I look forward to these appointments and enjoy the company of everyone at Hermitage Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry

They did amazing work doing dental bonding on my undersized lateral incisors. I couldn’t have asked for a better result. The dentist explained all of my options and didn’t pressure me into veneers when I explained I was looking for a quick, affordable, short term fix for a few years until I was in a better place to invest in veneers which are a more expensive and longterm solution vs dental bonding. I will be going back to this office for my veneers in a few years! 10/10, highly recommend.

"Yes, I'll make sure she doesn't leave without paying." Those were the instructions the front desk assistant repeated in confirmation back to the office manager. Those instructions were phoned to him after I checked in, while sitting near the front desk in mortification, waiting to have my teeth cleaned. My family have been patients of the Whitefields since 1979. My daughter is the 3rd generation to be seen by this practice. This long-standing relationship with this practice will most likely come to an end after our past visit a couple of days ago. I was told the prices increased exorbitantly because the practice has expanded. I was offered a payment plan l've never needed in the last 47 years with Dr. LC and then Dr. Mark Whitefield to be able to afford my dentist. I remember Dr.Whitefield kindly bringing my sister in on weekends to work on her teeth when she was down on her luck because that was a day he devoted to helping those without insurance for a low to no cost visit. Now? My daughter was charged twice the cost because she does not have insurance. This is the same little girl who would follow Dr. Mark around in the office as he would show her the various equipment and take the time to be a family dentist. Now that same girl is in college and being charged twice as much as an insured patient because (as it was explained to me), "the practice has grown to more than one doctor and we charge insurance companies less than what we charge self-pay because we have to keep costs low for the insurance companies to pay. But we do offer monthly payment plans now" Oh, and I was charged the insured rate, which is how I found this out. But I was assured I would be charged the higher (2x) rate the next time I visited. My parents have already left the practice and found a new dentist who seems to care. My sister, who had been a loyal patient of Dr. Whitefield's (and his father before,) had to look for a different dentist as well. I have resisted leaving because my daughter has special needs and saw Dr. Mark and his hygienist, Meredith, since she was 3. She’s 24 now and doesn't want to leave the only dental practice she's known. However, after being treated so embarrassingly by the office staff (whose excuse was that the practice has expanded and they have to be tougher on patients and payments), and no longer having Dr. Mark as a dentist, and the chairs and equipment looking run down while the waiting area overflows with too many bodies... I think it's time to go. This was a good practice. I saw them every six months for the last 47 years as a patient through school, college, employment, death, unemployment, and the rigors of life... and that apparently doesn't matter anymore. I’ve learned the hard way that all that matters now is the fact that l'd better pay twice the cost for my uninsured daughter that I paid for myself and I'd better pay it before l leave. I feel so much shame and yet grief too. I hope patients who’ve experienced this “growth” handled it without this much grief or sense of loss. I am devastated and ashamed. And someone shouldn’t feel that way about a long-standing patient/doctor relationship.

Dr. Whitefield is the best dentist ever! I love him and can't imagine seeing anyone else. He's so knowledgeable, understanding and always offers options to a treatment plan. He takes his time and is thorough. He cares and is always positive and helpful, even when delivering bad news. The staff are courteous and friendly.

Love my dentist office! Jenny Shultz is my hygienist and she has become a friend. She is so pleasant and sweet and takes great care of my teeth. It’s a blessing when you don’t dread your dentist appointments!

About Hermitage Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry

Hermitage Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry is a family owned dental practice on Lebanon Pike in Hermitage, serving patients throughout the Nashville area including Donelson and Old Hickory. The practice, formerly known as Whitefield Dental, focuses on cosmetic, implant, and restorative dentistry, with treatment options that include All on 4 implants and full arch tooth replacement using zirconia bridges secured by dental implants. Patients considering implants can expect a team that combines general dentistry with more advanced surgical and restorative implant work under one roof.

The practice is led by a team of dentists who grew up in or near the Hermitage and Donelson area, giving the office a hometown feel that many patients mention when describing their visits. For full arch cases, the office uses a zirconia based bridge material anchored by implants as an alternative to removable dentures, aiming for a more realistic look and a secure fit. Patients researching implant options in the Nashville area can use a consultation at this practice to discuss whether All on 4 or another full arch approach fits their needs and budget.
