I was extremely nervous but everyone was so kind and understanding. I had a root canal, which terrifies me just writing it. The dentist kept me at ease and did a wonderful job. Jessie the the assistant was the absolute best. Without her I never would have done this. She was with me every second and helped me through this. She is absolutely amazing.

I was a previous patient of Dr Guth and Gale, hygienist. I have stayed with Peak because of Gale. She is friendly kind and understanding. Hope she is my hygienist for my lifetime. Thank you Gale

Listen… I’m a 30-something year-old teenager who was too scared and anxious (and uninsured) to visit the dentist for the better part of the last 2 decades (wisdom tooth extraction aside— that was not a good experience at a different local dental office). So when i broke a tooth about a month ago (i know, i KNOW.. spare me the lecture) and it didn’t bother me initially, i just kinda let it ride, assuming it would be fine. *Morgan Freeman voice* “She would soon find things were not, in fact, fine.” The pain started with a sinus infection that put pressure on my upper jaw. But it didn’t really go away completely, even after the sinus pain did. I looked at different local dental offices and found Peak Family Dental Care that took our recently-acquired insurance. I sent an appointment request on Tuesday evening at 6:37pm and i was seen the next day at 9am. I was greeted by the kindest front desk girlies, while Dr. Shanahan and his assistant (whose name i didn’t get, but she was delightful and kept asking “how are you doing, friend?”) ended up tag-teaming a fun little same-day root canal and crown. As it turns out, when there’s a gaping hole in your tooth that’s left unattended to collect all kinds of gunk and bacteria, that can mess with the inside of your tooth. Crazy— i know. Can i recommend a root canal? Honestly, i could have napped were it not for the whole mouth-being-kept-open-for-two-hours thing. They were great. And so so understanding. I told my mom that i wasn’t worried/scared about a treatment plan— i just didn’t want to be judged for having not seen a dentist for so long. But they didn’t make me feel ashamed or anything. They just genuinely wanted to help me. AAAAAAND i have a comprehensive exam and cleaning scheduled for the end of the month— hold the applause, please. You know what? I’m actually looking forward to it. 😌 Sorry, no pictures. I only took a 4-second video after they numbed me up real good to show how i could only flare my right nostril because the whole left side of my face was numb 😂

Doctor was very kind and thoughtful, tech very efficient. When I made the appointment I understood a hygienist would be cleaning my teeth at the initial visit as well as the series of X-rays, pics and exam. On checking out I was given an appointment in 2 weeks for a consult and was told at that time I would get a cleaning scheduled. Based on the timeline it could be another few weeks when I expected it being done today. I was somewhat disappointed in that. Also on checking out I was charged $63 but not given a receipt or list of services I paid for. I hope communication with scheduling and front desk improves a bit.

Neuro-diverse: Went in for a routine cleaning, still a relatively new patient. The team is always warm and friendly without feeling fake. Everyone is easy to talk to. As for the procedure, I opt for the water pick cleaning over the traditional tools due to sensory issues, but even that can still be uncomfortable by nature. My hygienist does an excellent job, though, as far as that goes! I'm happy I was referred to them.

About Peak Family Dental Care

Peak Family Dental Care in Cottonwood, AZ offers dental implant treatment for patients looking to replace missing teeth with a durable, natural looking solution. A dental implant is a titanium post placed into the jawbone to act as a replacement tooth root, which then supports a crown, bridge, or denture. The practice also offers All-on-4 and full arch implant treatment for patients who need to replace multiple teeth or a full set.

Treatment begins with a consultation and exam, including 3D imaging, to determine whether a patient is a good candidate based on jawbone density and overall oral health. Implant placement is done under local anesthesia, followed by a healing period during which the implant integrates with the bone, and finishing with the attachment of a custom crown. The team at Peak Family Dental Care aims to guide patients through each step of the process with clear communication and attention to comfort.
