Very professional atmosphere. The clinical team made sure I was comfortable preparing for surgery and explained everything well. I had a great recovery and would definitely recommend Dr. Sarka and his team to anyone looking for oral surgery!

From first visit for consult to walking out the door from surgery, the entire team was wonderful. I was kept informed each step of the way. Each person I talked with was always pleasant and patient. The day of surgery, I was taken to a procedure room and waited for the doctor. His assistant kept coming in, every 10 min or so to keep me informed that he was still in a procedure and very sorry it was taking longer than expected. Being informed of a delay, for me, made waiting no problem at all. Thank you to the whole staff. I would go back and recommend them to others.

I went in for an emergency extraction. My rxperience surpasses even the most demanding expectations. I was in & out within an hour of my appointment. The extraction was virtually pain-free and Dr Sarka & Emily were not only professional but engaging…actually making the experience pleasant. The result that night was that I was able to completely enjoy my birthday dinner without sacrificing anything. My friends were astonished! As far as pain…ibuprofen has alleviated any awareness of my procedure. Yes! I am more than happy to be a booster for Dr Sarka and his terrific staff!

Dr. Sarka is the BEST- he came in on a Saturday to help me when I had a dry socket and an allergic reaction to my antibiotics. Super kind and caring, made me feel comfortable in an environment where many are not!

I have been extremely frustrated with this office's billing and insurance handling.
The office first collected payment for the initial evaluation, even though I knew the insurance should cover it. After the insurance payment was received, I requested a refund of the credit balance. I was told they preferred to leave the credit on the account for the future surgery, which was scheduled a year out. I ultimately had to push to receive reimbursement for money that was rightfully owed back to us.
My daughter has dual dental insurance coverage, and before treatment I specifically asked the office to run a pre-treatment estimate through both insurance plans. I was told they would only process the estimate through one insurance, collect the copay based on that information, and then submit claims to the secondary insurance afterward.
The surgery took place in February, and as of June we are still trying to get the secondary insurance claim resolved. The most recent denial from the insurance company stated that diagnostic imaging and clinical notes were missing. When I contacted the office, I was told they had spoken with the insurance company and confirmed everything needed had been received. However, when I called the insurance company myself, I was told there was no record of that conversation. The lack of clear communication and progress has been very disappointing.
At this point, it feels as though there is little urgency in resolving the secondary insurance claim because the office has already been paid by both the primary insurance company and by us out of pocket. The funds at issue are money that should ultimately be reimbursed to me, not additional payment owed to the practice. Unfortunately, because the claim must be submitted and corrected by the provider, I am dependent on the office to follow through with the insurance company. Months later, I am still waiting for resolution, which has been both frustrating and disappointing. I keep being told I have to wait 30 days while the claim re-processes, only to then learn after 30 days nothing happened at all, and then I have to start the waiting period all over again and hope the oral surgeon's office re-submits with the necessary information and trust they'll follow through. We are almost 4 months into the process now and I am growing incredibly frustrated.
From a clinical standpoint, the experience was also uncomfortable. I was told I could stay with my daughter while she was being prepared for surgery and that I would be sent to the waiting room before anesthesia was administered. Instead, without warning, the anesthesia was given while I was still sitting with her. Watching my child's eyes roll back and her body go limp without any preparation or explanation was upsetting and anxiety-inducing.
Afterward, I explained that it had been upsetting to watch my daughter be put under anesthesia without any warning that it was about to happen. The surgeon responded by saying that a father had recently passed out watching his child go under. While I understand this is a routine part of his day, it is not a routine experience for parents. If it is common enough that parents become lightheaded or faint, that only reinforces my belief that parents should be informed and escorted out beforehand, as I had been told would happen. The lack of communication and the casual response afterward felt unprofessional.
While the surgical outcome itself was fine, the billing practices, insurance handling, communication, and overall patient-family experience left a lot to be desired. There are other oral surgeons around, and I am sorely regretting not going to a different office.
