I went here for a consultation for dental work I needed done, while looking for a new dentist. Too many red flags for me to ever go back. 馃毄馃毄馃毄
1. I was the only patient there at the time. Not a very busy place - not a good sign.
2. There was a dog in my face during my visit while I was laying back in the chair and I couldn't get away from it. Very unhygienic and inappropriate. If you have a dog hair allergy, don't go here. They have 2 dogs that roam the rooms.
3. He had his hands all over my face without gloves and then made me put my hands on his face to feel the difference between my jaw and his. Very strange.
4. He took a macro photo of my tooth (great technology they use) and when showing me the photo, assured me that there was only 1 filling in the tooth and so he'd recommend option 1. I pointed out that there were 3 fillings (they were distinctly visible in the photo by the difference in color), and he assured me (the person who had the work done on the same tooth 3 times) that it was only 1. I had to point them out again and told him he was wrong, and only then he said "oh yeah, I guess you're right!" And changed his recommendation to a different treatment. Concerning that he didn't trust his patient and couldn't see details in macro photography on a screen. If you can't see details when they are that enlarged on the screen, I would not trust him to do detail work in my mouth.
Needless to say, I went with another dentist.
Edit: To respond to Dr. Smith, I did not visit in the last month, but remembered my visit a while back and wanted to come back to leave an honest review. You may or may not have dogs roaming your office now, but at the time of my visit, the receptionist told me there were 2 in the office (when I asked about the barking sound) and 1 of which came in and stuck its slobbery mouth in my face while I was in the chair twice. I do hope they aren't there anymore as it doesn't make for a great patient experience. My review is not inaccurate, but is an honest assessment of my visit.

Dr. Smith and his staff are awesome they are very thorough and explain what the options are for your particular situation. They treat me as a person not just a patient. I've only been going to Dr. Smith for about a year and it seems like I have known him for 20 years He actually even called me himself to check on me to see how I was doing and to make sure that I was OK. That's a first for me. His assistants are wonderful as well very polite and professional and they make sure that I'm doing alright during the process for each h visit. I would recommend Dr. Smith in a heartbeat to anyone who is looking for a new Dentist. I'm just thankful that I found them.

Dr Smith and staff are amazing. I鈥檝e never had a pleasant experience at a dentist until today. Root canal was pain free. They were very sweet and concerned about comfort level. Very patient. I felt at ease. This was my first visit but is now going to be my regular dentist. I will be moving my family here as well. Thank you all so much.

About Timberlake Family Dentistry
Timberlake Family Dentistry is a general and cosmetic dental office at 22525 Timberlake Road in Lynchburg, Virginia. The practice describes its approach simply: treating teeth is its profession, and treating people is its pleasure. Its services include dental implants, crowns and bridges, dentures, cosmetic fillings, dental bonding, teeth whitening, gum recontouring, root canals, extractions and wisdom tooth removal, socket preservation, and same day emergency dental care. Care for both children and adults is offered, along with preventive services such as cleanings, exams, and X-rays, and orthodontic options including traditional braces and Six Month Smiles.
For patients considering dental implants, the practice explains that implants are placed into the jawbone to serve as a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth, and that they help preserve bone and facial structure without altering neighboring teeth. The office uses three dimensional CT imaging in its own office to plan implant placement in advance and to create a surgical guide, and notes that a single implant placement can often be completed in under an hour, frequently with no incisions or stitches. For patients who feel anxious about treatment, nitrous oxide and oral sedation are available. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with Friday visits by appointment, and does not accept Medicaid.
