Dr. Affrunti and her staff are amazing. Extremely friendly both over the phone and in person. I was referred here by my dentist for a frenectomy. The process was smooth, comfortable, and quick. I had no issues getting timely appointments, and the office is extremely clean and inviting. In terms of the procedure itself, I was pleasantly surprised. I am a wuss when it comes to dental, and was extremely nervous for the procedure. Dr. Affrunti calmed my nerves and made sure I was comfortable, and handled it quickly. I didn鈥檛 feel a thing with her gentle approach, and was in and out in under 30 minutes. The procedure itself took less than 10 minutes. If you鈥檙e like me and dental work is nerve wracking and anxiety inducing, please consider Town Center Periodontal and Dr. Affrunti to meet your periodontal needs.

I paid $250 for a comprehensive periodontal evaluation, and unfortunately I left feeling extremely disappointed with both the examination and the way my concerns were handled. I was referred here because I had several specific periodontal/cosmetic concerns that I wanted evaluated. I explained that I have dental tori and an area of gum tissue that hangs down between my front teeth, and that my goal was to find out whether the tissue could be contoured so that my gumline would look more even before having my bonding corrected. Instead of really discussing that concern with me and helping me understand my options, the conversation kept being redirected back to getting a deep cleaning and seeing my general dentist first. When I asked about removing the excess gum tissue, I was told that if she removed it, I would be left with a large space because there currently is not bonding underneath that area. I understood that explanation, but that was exactly why I continued asking whether the logical sequence would be to remove/contour the gum tissue first and then have my general dentist place the bonding afterward to close and shape the area properly. I never felt like I received a clear answer. I repeatedly tried to clarify the treatment sequence, and I felt dismissed with essentially the same response: get the deep cleaning and go back to my general dentist. That was particularly frustrating because gum contouring was one of the main reasons I paid for a periodontal consultation in the first place. I expected a periodontist to assess the gum tissue, discuss what could realistically be removed, explain whether gingivectomy or crown lengthening would be appropriate, and coordinate the sequence with restorative bonding. Instead, I left without a clear plan for the concern I actually came in to address. I was also uncomfortable with the periodontal examination itself. During probing, the doctor initially called out mostly 2s and 3s with some 4s. Because I was tender during the examination, she eventually stopped obtaining complete measurements. I then heard her instruct the staff member to essentially make the measurements 4s. Her own written consultation report states that she was unable to obtain full probing measurements because of my tenderness and that the periodontal charting was estimated based on the areas she could measure, the X-rays, inflammation, and calculus. Despite that incomplete/estimated charting, I was given a diagnosis of slight chronic periodontitis and presented with a treatment plan for scaling and root planing/deep cleaning in all four quadrants. What made this even more confusing was that I was also told my bone loss was minor, and the written report itself describes generalized slight horizontal bone loss, localized inflammation, no furcation involvement, and only slight mobility of two lower front teeth. I am not opposed to appropriate periodontal treatment. If I genuinely need deep cleaning, I want it done. My problem is that I expect a recommendation for an invasive, anesthetized four-quadrant treatment to be based on a complete and accurately measured periodontal examination, not measurements that the provider acknowledges were estimated. I also did not appreciate feeling as though the deep cleaning was being pushed repeatedly while the cosmetic/periodontal issue I actually wanted evaluated was largely brushed aside. At the end of the visit, I was primarily given a deep-cleaning treatment plan and cost, while I still did not have a satisfactory explanation or coordinated treatment plan regarding the gum tissue, bonding, or the proper order in which those procedures should be performed. For $250, I expected a thorough consultation, clear answers to my questions, a complete periodontal assessment or a plan to obtain one accurately, and meaningful discussion of the treatment I specifically came to see a periodontist about. Instead, I left feeling unheard, pressured toward one treatment, and less confident about my periodontal treatment plan than when I arrived.

I recently had oral surgery at Town Center Periodontal and the procedure was very well done. The staff and Periodontist are very professional and welcoming. The procedure itself was super quick and they made sure I was not uncomfortable or in pain.
