About West Coast Oral Surgery
West Coast Oral Surgery is an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice located in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego, inside the North County Medical Dental Building on Erma Road. The practice focuses on dental implant surgery and bone grafting, including All on 4 and full arch implant treatment for patients who are missing several or all of their teeth. Alongside implant care, the team also handles wisdom tooth removal, tooth extractions, corrective jaw surgery, treatment of jaw joint (TMJ) problems, and repair of facial injuries, so patients can often have related dental and surgical needs addressed at the same office.
The practice has been serving San Diego area patients for decades and recently transitioned leadership to Dr. Matin after the previous owning surgeon, Dr. Andrew Chang, retired, with the team continuing to emphasize patient education and a comfortable, well explained treatment process. Patients considering dental implants can expect a consultation that walks through diagnosis, sedation and anesthesia options, and a custom treatment plan before any surgery is scheduled. The office also offers financing options such as CareCredit and works with most PPO dental insurance plans to help make implant treatment more accessible.
Meet the Doctors
West Coast Oral Surgery is home to an experienced team of oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Dr. Mehdi Matin, Doctor of Dental Surgery, is the clinical director and is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He earned his dental degree with honors from the University of California San Francisco, completed his specialty training at the University of Washington, and finished an anesthesiology fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Chang, who graduated first in his class from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, retired from surgery in 2018 and now serves the practice as a practice and transition consultant.
